I just received an auction purchase that was so disgusting that I put on rubber gloves to handle it ... This didn't show in the pictures and it said no known issues when I hit contact seller.

As is is a risk but what I got was just plain trash. It was packaged accordingly- like who cares ,throw it in a beat up box with the electronics free to move around with no bubble wrap cause its junk. It was covered in something thick and sticky with the stuff from.inside the dirty box stuck to the mystery sticky substance. They couldn't even wipe it Down?

Seems like a potential risk to clients health is also another risk you take buying from them. Insulting a customer's intelligence by selling trash that is packaged as viable goods under the "as is" scapegoat then not caring that they spent hard earned .money( because they couldn't afford new ) to package and present that used item so the customer feels good about getting a good deal instead of trying to explain to their excited teenager why now they not only have a pile of $50 trash but there are crooks who could plainly see what we see and still send it to us ... And they are disguised as a charity under the name GOODWill. I cried after he went to bed tonight because I let him down.

Poor people also shop goodwill online... Single moms, people without vehicles, parents who work 60 hours a week - robbing customers like me the chance of seeing their son smile is a risk I took ...

There are more risks to" As Is" than this customer will ever take again. Beware!!!

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Monetary Loss: $38.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

ShopGoodwill Pros: Winning an auction.

ShopGoodwill Cons: Products condition.

It was probably an off duty McDonald's employee who packaged it. They felt like they had to put their special sauce all over it before mailing it to you.

Did you try contacting the Goodwill org that listed the item?

It wouldn't surprise me if someone got broken junk in the Goodwill auction. Consider it all a risk.

First, customer donates item. Attendant throws item in a big cardboard box with no packaging. How carefully items are treated is largely based on 1) is Goodwill hiring enough staff (need at least 2 attendants per shift) or is attendant overworked and 2) store policies. Next stop big brown box goes to a processor.

Common to find stuff that is damaged, moldy, cigarette smoke damage or mouse turds in the box. None of it is ever cleaned off, that takes too much time & time is money. The processor is constantly pressured to get stuff on the floor - not put quality on the floor. Namebrands and certain labels are spotted bc they are worth more $$ About 70% of stuff was thrown out or recycled at my store on a regular basis.

If something looks expensive or valuable it goes to auction bc that's where Goodwill makes the most $$$. In the future, Goodwill will prob be transitioning to an online store. Items thrown in another big brown box with no packaging or special care to be sent to auction. Items are not tested.

Boxes stacked on top of each other and loaded on a semi ... you get the picture...item is used to begin with and bouncing around a box full of junk with no protection even before it gets to you.

You should never buy anything that is listed as "as Is, where is, whatever there is" and you should never buy anything that is nonrefundable.
