My wife bought a wedding dress for her daughter at the Pepper Ferry Rd Goodwill near Blacksburg Va. It turned out to be too large for her daughter and she took it back to the same store the next morning. The girl at the checkout called the manager to see if she could get a refund. When hte manager arrived she began fussing at the checkout girl because a plastic hanger had been included with the dress.

MY wife was polite and respectful of this woman, but since she only had the credit card receipt for the purchase, was told that she could not get a refund or store credit either. My wife threw te dress on the counter, told the manger to keep it and stormed out.

A few observations - Goodwill wants to portray themselves as a legitimate and even upscale operation - but this kind of behavior shows what a second class act they truly are. If this manager thinks that we will ever walk in another Goodwill - she is wrong. If she thinks we will donate anything else - she is wrong. If she thinks this kind of behavior will not effect her bottom line she is wrong - if she thinks we won't try to take this up with the credit card company and the better business bureau she is wrong. If the company thinks that his sort management won't effect them overall they are wrong. If they think they can succeed with this sort of management then they are wrong - especially in these times what goes round comes round. Go on Badwill! Keep it up We will witness your demise. The local thrift stores are a hundred times more pleasant and reasonable to deal with.

Monetary Loss: $42.

You cannot even spell a simple word such as "the" which even a four year old knows how to spell and you call an adult lady a girl?

What kind of low life buys a wedding dress from goodwill? Also if it didn't fit right you could have paid to have it altered, but I'm going to assume since you bought this dress at goodwill you could afford it..... BUY A REAL DRESS FOR YOUR DAUGHTER!

I bought a beautiful wedding dress at Goodwill for my daughter. BUT she picked it out and it was a perfect fit, she really wanted it.

It was from David's Bridal (Originally $900.00) and only $15.00 It is quite a beautiful dress. Not a thing wrong with it. It's called White Champagne.

And you are NOT a low life if you buy a wedding dress from Goodwill.

You said your wife bought the dress for her daughter, I take it by your post to Jedi that your wife cheated on you, should you not be more worried about that than anything?

Guest

PS do you even have a job? If you did you would not be buying a $3 for your daughter\'s wedding. I guess that is all you can afford to spend on your daughter.

Guest

I assume that Robert here had the wedding in his backyard and used a cake mix for the wedding cake and ordered cheap Chinese food for the wedding food and only invited his own immediate family, which was not a problem since I am sure the daughter married her brother.

you got a wedding dress at goodwill..? I didn't even know they sold them there.

Why did you stand me up? It's ok to be ***. You need to tell your wife about us, Im tired of living a lie.

I love you Robert..,.,,Enrique. Xoxo

Thanks Thrift Shop. Good thoughtful comment!

There was so many posting because I kept responding to all the crude replies - like the one just before yours by some poor misguided "Dude".

Dude - I had rather be second class than have absolutely no class at all - a fact which your comment clearly shows about you. We all know if it still had the cream on it you would have knocked down the doors to get at it.

Guest

Robert, I was totally intrigued when I saw how many pages of comments your complaint generated, so I went back to the beginning and read them all.

I'm happy to hear you have found other Goodwill shops that are better run. It was my thought from the beginning that the one from which the dress was purchased was suffering from a bad manager and nothing more.

I've shopped in Goodwill stores in quite a few different states and they all reflect the aptitude of their individual managers. Some excellent, some leave a lot to be desired. Perhaps Goodwill needs to give a basic level of training to all staff and management in particular.

Sorry to hear about your PTSD and I hope the Navy is providing you with adequate help in dealing with it. Too many vets are thrown on the scrap-heap after giving their country the best years of their lives and it's a crying shame.

Guest

Goodwikl is a second class store since only second class people buy their wedding dresses there. I bet that dress still had cream stains on it.

Guest

and what's wrong with shopping at thrift stores and Goodwill -- are you a better bear than the other bears? Perhaps a snob bear?

Am I talking to an elite and rich bear? I quess this means you are for keeping the Bush tax cuts and letting the lowly *** pay off the deficit.

Let them eat cake huh? The french revolution , would be a good study for all, but particularly for the well off bears.

Guest

And yes I don't work - this old bear is retired - so I have plenty of time for this nonsense

and since I'm grumpy as *** it beats arguing with the ones I live with. Good luck.

Guest

I kind of didn't know, but its clear now - you're the one who has been posting all

the derogatory statements. If you're not the manager then what have I done to you and please get a life?

If your are the manager , for god's sake , get professional. You divide others into adults and children and deride me for lossing my temper and complaining about a confrontation with an ***hole. YOu're eiher nuts, a saint, a hypocrite, and/or the manager. Whichever, this has really got your attention and it must be really eating at you.

You the big bad mama bear who can't take the heat - and I hate to break it to you but I ain't no cub and I also divide the other bears into two classes - "Smart and dumb". Please, if you can play another tune do so - this one is getting damned boring,

Guest

Ruth Don't worry I will not assume you work at goodwill - I don't imagine you work anywhere -

anyone who worked would not have time for mindless complaint surging and I don't suspect you could work anywhere long without *** everyone off with your idiotic insults. You know what you and my diaper are both full of don't you?

Guest

Yes - I have noticed that trend also. And I also think anything of real interest of value never makes it to the sales floor.

Guest

When I came into this counry, goodwill was a store you would find most immigrants as well as people with little or no income shopping for clothes they could afford.$20 was able to get you an outfit for a job interview. Now goodwill is just another clothing store. The prices are rediculous.I`m not saying the things should be given away, but sell the so people can afford them.Right now if you can afford to buy from goodwill you can buy the same thing brand new at most other stores :sigh

Guest

Should have - didn't know they let the prisoners use the internet - how long you in for? Bet you go plenty of time for your favorite activity in there and a lot of help.
